Also, they must be assed constantly for fluid volume excess and fluid volume deficit. It is the nurse's responsibility to make sure that the patient's IV's or oral supplements are monitored properly (i.e. regulating drip rate, administering correct oral dosage). Also, the nurse should constantly be looking at lab values for electrolytes. And be EXTROIDINARILY thorough with Potassium... too much or too little = loss.
